Leadership Development Center Joins UHR

From the Desk of Susan Carkeek

On behalf of University Human Resources (UHR) and the Leadership Development Center (LDC), I am pleased to announce that as of July 1, 2007, the LDC has joined the UHR family.

I know that many of you have had positive experiences with the LDC and have productive relationships with Brian Bell, Tara Telfair, and other members of their staff. The change in reporting preserves the identity of the LDC and enhances collaboration between UHR and the LDC. Our goal is to make sure that our clients, who often overlap, get the best of both. The decision to change the reporting line is a strategic one that is being made to support workforce initiatives already under way, as well as other employee and organizational development programming that UHR and the LDC can design and implement together. We will work to make sure there are clear paths to follow when individuals are interested in taking courses or organizations want to focus on group development.

The LDC will continue to work out of their offices in Fontaine Research Park, and their contact information remains the same. UHR will be adding links to their programs from the HR home page as well as incorporating their information on our pages and in our communication. For more information about the LDC’s offerings visit its Web site at http://www.virginia.edu/ldc/.

I truly think this will be an improvement in service for the entire University community. Please join me in welcoming Brian, Tara, Audrey Dodson, Susan Wilkes, K. C. Soares and Val Spears to UHR!
