| Managing at U.Va. Interactive Workshops |
2009 is a busy and exciting year for University Human Resources with the launch of the new University Staff HR Plan. In the years to come, supervisors and managers need to be able to function in multiple systems, manage different employee types, and work with a fresh focus on employee development, performance management, and career planning. To meet those needs, a new series of workshops is available, "Managing at U.Va."
The first workshop, "Managing and the New HR System," focuses on developing managerial skills and how those skills are connected to key U.Va. processes, including hiring, goal-setting, performance management, career development, and compensation. It's practical and highly interactive, so participants will leave with tools and an action plan to move their team forward.
The second class in the series, “The Power of Feedback: Managing Performance at U.Va.”, is a three-hour session that focuses on the skills needed to provide effective feedback, a critical component to the success of any performance management system. In the session, supervisors and managers will also be introduced to the U.Va. performance management process and timeframe. Please note--this class does not provide an overview of how to use the Performance Management software. That will occur in another, upcoming class.
Two other sessions in the new series will follow later in 2009, one focusing on the new compensation processes and the other a hands-on session using the new performance management software.
